A study by Eureka found that a 9 x 12 area rug could hide up to 87 lbs. of dirt!

How much dirt is lurking in Your rug? This is a good question, and the answer could be “much more dirt than you think.”

Whether the Eureka study is accurate or not, we at Bal Arisi know for certain that your area rug can hide an enormous amount of dirt, and it is hard to get it out unless you hire a professional area rug cleaner that uses proper techniques and equipment.

It's important to rid your rug of dirt because dirt actually causes damage to your rug. Dirt acts like sandpaper on a rug. As hidden dirt buildups, it can prematurely wear out or ugly out a fine Oriental or loose woven rug if not cleaned. A thorough dusting and immersion cleaning and rinsing is important to help extend the longevity of your rug.

In January 2020, Bal Arisi opened its doors in the heart of Bucks County. While we are a newly formed LLC, we are not new to the art of oriental and area rug cleaning and repair.

For over 30 years, Brian McCartin has been washing rugs and doing minor repairs in his carpet cleaning business, McCartin’s Services, LLC. The popularity of area rugs has waxed and waned over the thirty years Brian has operated his business. In 2018, the area rug cleaning business exploded for McCartin's Services. Brian decided to make the area rug cleaning portion of his business a separate entity, expand the wash plant, and begin to offer extensive repair and restoration. His wife and co-owner, Theresa, has trained under the tutelage of several of the biggest and best in the oriental rug repair industry. She has traveled all over to study authentic and traditional repair and dye processes. She has worked with designers as well as homeowners on projects as small as fringe repair to resizing a new area rug for that certain space.

We are as eager to help you with an antique piece as we are to repair your not-so-expensive but dearly loved rug that is no longer available for re-purchase. Some things just can’t be replaced; we get it!
